L - Letter of Love
ππL- Letter of Love ππ Many people recommend writing their loved one a letter. In it, you can express the love and joy you felt while that pet was alive, and also the sadness of the unmet dreams, hopes and expectations. It is a form of telling your loved one how much they mean to you, how much you miss their presence and how you will never forget their memory. I found writing my letter to my dad, and to each of my pets very therapeutic. Of course there were lots of tears, and it took me a while and several attempts to complete it. I started the letter off βI have been thinking about our relationship and I have discovered a few things I would like you to knowβ ππ Thankyou... for choosing me to be your mum... write down the things you are grateful for - because your pet was in your life. ππ Reminiscing on wonderful memories and good times. ππ This is your opportunity to say the most important things that were left unsaid. And itβs perfectly fine to repeat things like βI love youβ ππ If there are any negative feelings that come up, add to the letter: I apologise for... I forgive you for... I want you to know... If you are planning to write a letter of love, get lots of tissues ready (trust me, you will need them), find a nice, quiet area, away from distractions. You can light a candle, have some soft music playing, have your petβs belongings nearby. Whatever makes you comfortable. There is no limit on how much you write, one of my catβs letters was only a few paragraphs, another was about 3 pages. When you are signing the letter off, it is important to say βGoodbyeβ. Now stay with me... this is no different to hanging up from someone on the phone after a conversation. It is a letter of love, not a farewell letter. βI love you Teagan Monster, I miss you with all my heart. Goodbye my beautiful girlβ. ππππ Have you written a Letter of Love to your pet? What was your experience like? ππππ
