Society is slowly getting it. Losing a pet is devastating. For some people it is their first experience of death, especially for children.
When a person dies, it is acceptable by society to take time off work or school, to take time to grieve. So why should the death of a pet be any different?
They are there when we wake up (sometimes before if you have ever had a cat wake you up to be fed!), they rely on us to feed, walk and play with them. They are dependant on us. So when they have died, they leave a massive hole in our lives - our routine has been changed dramatically.
